Midwest Diesel began in 1973 when Bob & Les Jones saw the need for a local shop to repair and service the area’s diesel engines – whether they were in trucks, on tractors, or pumping irrigation water to area cornfields. With the ink just barely dry on his diesel technician diploma from Southeast College in Milford, Arnie Rief started at Midwest Diesel – moving with the business when it relocated to Beemer, Nebraska in 1976. After managing the shop for 20 years, he started the process of buying it in 1996. Throughout its history, Arnie continued to grow the Midwest Diesel team of technicians, as well as its diagnostic and repair equipment to better serve its customers. That meant it also grew its footprint along highway 275, most recently adding a 6800 square foot shop in 2022. Arnie’s son Andrew and Dustin Kaup purchased the business in 2023. Their current team has over 278 years of combined experience.
